CV
Bjørn Wangen, active as a visual artist since 1988, works with painting, drawing, digital media, performance, robotics, text and site-specific projects, including land art. Tensions between illusory and actual spaces can be discerned in his work; rather than seeking to resolve these tensions, he allows them to fuel various cross-genre explorations. Taking the body as a starting point, his work constitutes an ongoing exploration of the relationships between identity, visuality, and place.
Education
Master of Fine Arts with specialization in digital media (MFA) at Valand Art Academy, University of Gothenburg 2011. Bachelor of fine arts (BFA) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim, Norway 1988.
• Worked with Wanås youth project, Wanås Konst 2009, 2010 and 2011.
• Third prize at CyberMovie, Moscow Film festival 2001 with the digital work "Print me".
• CTHEORY multimedia, Montreal Canada, ”Digital Dirt” issue 1998
• Worked with the art project The Pineapple project room between 1998 and 2005
• Assistant to artist Ola Billgren between 1987 and 1994
